What we do

Taps & leaks, done properly

A dripping tap can waste a surprising amount of water, and a slow leak under a sink can quietly ruin a cupboard or a floor. These are the jobs people put off, so we make them easy to book: send a photo on WhatsApp and we’ll tell you what it’s likely to be.

We repair where repair makes sense, with a new washer, cartridge or seal, and suggest a new tap only if the old one is worn out or parts aren’t available. If you’ve already bought a new tap, we’re happy to fit it.

Leaks get found, not just patched. We trace where the water is actually coming from, fix the cause and check the joints around it.

  • Dripping and leaking taps repaired
  • New taps and mixers fitted, kitchen and bathroom
  • Leaks under sinks, baths and basins
  • Leaking pipes and joints repaired
  • Running or leaking toilets fixed
  • Isolation valves fitted or replaced
  • Low water pressure at a tap investigated

Signs you need us

When to think about taps and leaks

  • A tap that won’t stop dripping

Usually a worn washer or ceramic cartridge. An easy fix for us.

  • Damp or swollen cupboard bases

A sign of a slow leak from a waste, tap tail or valve under the sink.

  • A stain spreading on the ceiling

Water from a bathroom above. Turn the water off and call straight away.

  • The toilet keeps refilling

A worn flush valve or fill valve wastes water and is simple to put right.

  • Stiff or loose handles

Worn parts inside the tap. Sometimes a repair, sometimes time for a new tap.

  • Higher water bills

If you’re on a meter, an unexplained jump can point to a hidden leak.

Step by step

How a job runs

No surprises. Here’s what happens from your first message to the finished job.

  1. Send a photo

WhatsApp a photo or short video of the tap or leak. It helps us bring the right parts.

  2. Arrange a time

We agree a slot and tell you roughly what to expect.

  3. Find the cause

We isolate the water, trace the leak and check what’s worn.

  4. Fix it

Washer, cartridge, seal, valve or a new tap, fitted properly.

  5. Check and clean up

Everything tested under pressure and the area dried and tidied.

Questions

Taps & leaks: your questions answered

The things people ask us most. If yours isn’t here, just message us.

Can you fix a dripping tap or does it need replacing?

Most dripping taps can be fixed by replacing the washer (traditional screw-down taps) or the ceramic cartridge (quarter-turn and mixer taps). If the tap body is damaged or parts aren’t available, a new tap is the better option. We’ll tell you which.

How quickly can you come out for a leak?

Call or WhatsApp and we’ll tell you honestly when we can get to you. If water is coming through a ceiling, turn off the stopcock first; we’ll talk you through it on the phone if needed.

Can you fit a tap I’ve bought?

Yes. Let us know the make and model and we’ll check it suits your sink and water pressure before the visit.

Why is my tap leaking from the base or handle?

That usually means a worn O-ring or seal inside the tap body, rather than the washer or cartridge. It’s normally a straightforward repair.

My toilet keeps running. Is that a big job?

Rarely. It’s usually a worn flush valve seal or a fill valve that isn’t shutting off. Both are quick to replace.

Where is my stopcock?

Usually under the kitchen sink, but it can be in a downstairs toilet, utility room, garage or under the stairs. It’s worth finding it before you need it. Our leak guide explains how to turn it off.

We cover Faversham, Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Thanet (Margate, Broadstairs and Ramsgate), Sandwich, Deal, Dover, Folkestone, Ashford and Sittingbourne, and the villages and areas in between. See the areas we cover.
